Großziethen is located in the state of Brandenburg, county Dahme-Spreewald, directly at the southern Berlin
border. In 2003 the place merged with the municipality of Schönefeld, populated of about 13,100 residents. Over the last
10 years a lot of people moved to Großziethen. The number of inhabitants increased from less than 5,000 to more than 7,200
since (last figure as of 2010). The locality surely benefits from the close distance to the Berlin sub-sections
Lichtenrade, Buckow and Rudow. It's not that far from the airport, but of no effect at all!
There are shopping and
medical facilities, schools and children's daycare, sports grounds as well as several service suppliers around.
Next
bus stop is just a few steps from the property. The route leads to the shopping area of Gropiuspassagen in
Berlin-Buckow, where you also can access the U7 subway. Berlin A 10 ring road is about 10 km to the south. The city center

The housing complex for the elderly was built in 1996/97 and sits on a large land area of round about 14,000 sqm or
3,45 acres. All supply connections are available. The estate comprises 8 detached solid houses. The outdoor
spaces were generously arranged. There are 2 driveways to get on the site, drop curbstones, car spaces for residents and
visitors as well as some greenery. The neighborhood is qualified to be a General Residential Area.
After joining
some bed-sitters the total number of units at present is about 141, studio to one-bedroom apartments of about 30 to 60 sqm
in size. The current occupancy rate is round about 98.2% (as of Jan 2012). Besides the accommodations of the elderly there
are also a central reception area, a 40-seat café, a 140-seat dining hall, kitchen, library, gymnastics room, several common

opener and voice intercom. All interior and exterior pathways suit the elderlies and wheelchair users.
All
residential units benefit from balcony or terrace. Further features are PVC insulated windows, wooden roof-top
windows, roll-in shower baths with hand-holds, 2-cooking plate kitchenette with refrigerator and sink, mainly wood-design
linoleum floors, partially carpet floors, light switches and power points in contrasting color, phone and TV-cable
connection. In case of need there is also an optional emergency call system available.
