| General Information |
Eisenhüttenstadt, formerly Fürstenberg on Oder River, is located in the east of Germany, Federal State of Brandenburg,
Oder-Spree district. The Oder-Spree-Canal runs through town, bother rivers join here. The Oder river comes out to be the
border to the Republic of Poland, but there is no checkpoint in town. After merging in the 1960's and the 1990's
today the city has 4 sub-areas: Neustadt, Fürstenberg (Oder), Schönfliess and Diehlo. The population is about 31,700.
Besides cultural buildings like Friedrich-Wolf-Theater and a few museums there are also several monuments, mainly of
jewish history. A lot of buildings are listed to be monumental protected. Eisenhüttenstadt is also home of
Germany's largest conservation area, so called "Wohnstadt des Hüttenwerks" (lit. something like "Residential Town of
Smeltery"). The city, of course, offers medical facilities, schools and good shopping possibilities.
The
property in question sits N/W of the center, at the south edge of the commercial zone EKO, place of steel industry
offering about 2,500 employees their jobs. |

Eisenhüttenstadt is situated at the railway Frankfurt/Oder-Cottbus. Once per hour one can take the regional train (RE)
to reach Berlin within only 1.5 hours or to go e.g. to Magdeburg.
Because of waterways North and Baltic Sea
are connected to the city. There are several inland ports with access to rail and street services.
Besides
countless ordinary roads B 112 and B 246 federal roads cross the city. Next access onto A 12 state highway is about 20 km
distant to the north (12.5 miles) at the south of Frankfurt/Oder. About 3 km (1.9 mile) from the city there is also a
business airfield for planes of up to 8 tons. The International Airport at Berlin Schönefeld is about 100 km
(62 miles), central Berlin about 120 km (75 miles), Cottbus about 60 km (37 miles) and Dresden about 180 km
(112 miles) away. |
| Description |
The building from the mid-1990's is a 1-story prefab steel construction with corrugated siding (trapezoidal sheet
metal) and flat roof. There is no basement. The whole property leaves good impression to be well maintained indeed, what
surely mainly has to do with the long-term AAA-tenant, the biggest mail service enterprise in Germany. The lot
of the dispatch depot is drivable by mini vans and trucks, has electric roller shutters and a weight-lifting platform.
The ceiling height is up to 5 m (16.4 ft.). In addition to the transshipment hall there are offices, staff and sanitary
rooms as well as technical supplying rooms. The building has a gas fired central heating system and PVC-insulated
windows, partially skylights.
The outdoor space is paved and offers about 30 parking spaces, 11 of them sized for
normal cars. The lot has outside lighting, is fenced and both, the entrance and exit, are lockable by steel gates.
Vehicles can circle the building (max. 14 tons plus trailer).
Currently more than 40 people work on-site and
cover the whole mail and package services of the region, within and around the city.
